Saturday Sampler Block one

Block One

from back ground fabric cut 2)  5x5 squares and 2) 5 3/8 squares
from a dark cut 4) squares 3 1/8 x 3 1/8
from medium dark cut 2) 2 3/4  x 2 3/4 squares

cut the 2) 5 3/8 back ground squares in half diagonaly from corner to corner
cut 2) of the 4) 3 1/8  dark squares in half diagonaly from corner to corner

sew one of the dark triangles to one side  the medium  2 3/4 squares and one to the other side--make two of these units.

Next take the reserved dark 3 1/8 squres and place one on one corner of a 5 x 5 background square, draw line diagonally across your dark square and stitch on that line, press back and trim the excess. Make two of these

Next sew the remaining background triangles to the unit in step one.

 Now sew your four units together and square your block to 9 1/2
