First you start with a square, ( I used a 3 1/2 inch square and 2" strips,) then you stitch your square to a strip, I clothesline sew to save time, so I lay my squares on a strip and sew using 1/4" seam on to one side of the strip, and then sew a strip to the opposite side, then the top and then the bottom, I think of it as east west north and south,
Now using the square in a square ruler place the 90 degree on tip of your square you simply trim each corner and you have a perfect square in a square ! How easy is this?
There are many options such as flying geese and half square triangles that you will enjoy, what I have shown here is the basic option 1, Next time I will show option 3 "flying geese units" !
